Rites of Passage and Plant Medicine

Times are changing, more rapidly than ever before. We all have aspects of ourselves that are hidden from ourselves. Why are they hidden? Because our ego, running rampant with thoughts about who we should be, is often reluctant to accept the entirety of who we actually are.

It’s been said by many, “ you are not your mind.” So true. When asked by others, who you are, what is your response? Career title? Parental role? Gender? Nationality, etc. All of these are external creations and labels. Growing up in a different culture for example, can dramatically alter your perception of self. Being raised in America will entrain you into a different set of values than if you were raised in Australia. Do you get my point? We are not our societal labels. Those things only serve to create a division of energy, which is not always helpful to our soul’s journey.

So how do we in modern times reclaim our true heritage, our true origin? There are many ways, many spiritual practices one can do to reconnect with “All That Is” or the God-Source.

In many ancient traditions there were rights of passage that girls went through to become a woman and boys went through to be recognized as a man. While some of those rights of passage have lost their original meaning along the way, some did not.

The rights of passage existed to acknowledge not just physical changes taking place but to  initiate one into the next phase of their spiritual growth. We’ve all met people that are legal adults but still act like children, despite being developmentally “normal.” So their physical development is misaligned with their soul’s age.

Many rights of passage simulated a death and rebirth, in some cases they would induce a near death experience. Wow, Sounds harsh! Until you realize that Near Death Experiences do not always involve the cessation of bodily functions like breathing and heart rate.

Anyone who has ever gone through an ego death or “Dark Night of the Soul” will often acknowledge that part of them died. They will mourn the part that died. They’ll go through the stages of grief – denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and eventually acceptance, also known as surrender. Many people experience Death of Ego(Dark Night of the Soul) more than once. Some also call it a midlife crisis. Regardless of the label we assign to this phenomenon, it can happen to anyone and any time. If the person who is affected is a spiritual seeker they will develop more tools and knowledge to work through it, so the severity may be lessened.

If someone gets stuck for days, weeks or months on end, in this grief experienced during this transitory period then they are holding onto the old self which may lead to external destruction as much as internal(soul) rot. This is where negative entities will often attach, and try to talk someone into ending their physical life. – This is not a good place to be and if you struggle with change, so much it causes you to spiral to that point, then we would encourage you to seek professional help.

Stuck emotions cause many ailments but the worst perhaps, is the feeling of being lost or disconnected from the Source(Universal Consciousness, Loving Creator). Someone who feels they have no purpose. People with abandonment traumas are especially susceptible to really negative outcomes, if they do not do the deep work necessary to heal themselves.

I speak as someone who has had many dark nights, many times that I was refusing to let go and it caused me so much pain, sadness and anger because I had unconscious patterning from childhood. After a few deeply profound journeys with plant medicine, I began facing my fears and working to better myself.

We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them.

~ Albert Einstein

The same medicines which have been demonized by western culture for so long have helped many people heal in profound ways, but they are not for everyone.

Plant medicines should not be approached unless you have proper guidance and support. The plant medicines I speak of are not those of a recreational nature, like cannabis.

The plant medicine I speak of is used ceremonially for healing.

Healing is messy, it is not for the faint of heart. It requires real work, discipline and an ability to face the darkest aspects of yourself and bring them into the light so they can be examined in fine detail. Then in a process that allows you to surpass the limitation of your own ego, you can do the most important work of your life – let it all go.

I can not put into words the experience you may have, should you choose the journey. You can watch documentaries, you can read stories online and in books, and even scare yourself away from it entirely. But I say to you, if it is something you feel you would want to experience, you would have a completely unique journey. We all do have certain things in common and we are all part of the grand master plan of the Cosmos, but your healing and spiritual growth journey is unique.

Plant medicine is not for everyone.

It is not a race, it is not a competition, it is not a quick fix, it is not a “pill for your ill,” it is not for someone looking for entertainment and it it not a replacement for personal responsibility.

It is for serious spiritual seekers and people who are ready to break free from the programming, old beliefs, and stagnant(emotions) energy holding them back. It is for those who are ready to face themselves and connect to something bigger than themselves. It is for those seeking a deeper connection to themselves and the universe.

If you are ready to take a step in this direction, we can give you further details all you need to do is ask.
