In art, having layers and shadows adds depth to the work. Art without depth is either comic book style(easier for the printer to print) and/or is very flat, boring and 1 dimensional. It is often unimaginative and uninspired.
The musical equivalent to post-modern art is modern pop music, which may make good clubbing music and is easy to replicate via A.I. and autotune.
Whereas art that was truly made from the heart is the equivalent of listening to Beethoven or Mozart.
Post-modern art often lacks depth and passion which demands that we think about it(analyze it). Like a child screaming for attention in a department store, it’s hard to ignore it, so it often does get our attention, through aggravation.
Many people, including me, struggle to understand the attraction to such a bland expression, such as a banana duct taped to a wall, that seems likely to have been more about making quick money that actual artistic expression.
Whereas art that was created for the sole purpose of channeling(releasing) the feelings of the artist, evokes deep feelings in the hearts of those who gaze upon the work.
What kind of artistic expression do you prefer?
What kind of people do you prefer? Authentic or Shallow?
