Requirements for Participating in Horse Activities

Horse Activities

We prioritize safety, respect, and preparedness to ensure a positive and enjoyable experience for all participants. Please review the following guidelines before engaging in any horse activities.

Safety & Conduct

  • Follow all instructions from the instructor or parent/guardian at all times—these rules are in place for your safety.
  • Never run near horses to prevent accidents and avoid startling them.
  • Show respectful behavior at all times. Arguing or refusing to follow instructions will not be tolerated.

Required Attire

  • Wear jeans, pants or breeches, regardless of the temperature, to protect your legs.
  • Choose sturdy footwear—hiking boots, mud boots, or riding boots are required. Sandals, flip-flops, crocs, or open-toed shoes are strictly prohibited.
  • Expect to get dusty and dirty, so wear old clothes suitable for outdoor activities.
  • Remove all jewelry for safety reasons.
  • Avoid manicures—your nails won’t last long around horses.
  • Don’t expect your hair to stay neat and perfect.

Essential Items to Bring

  • Bring water! If you forget, your only option will be drinking from a hose.
  • Children under 18 must wear helmets when riding, and we encourage older riders to do the same. A bike helmet can be used if you don’t have a riding helmet but a riding helmet is preferred.
  • Avoid wearing perfume, cologne, or air fresheners—these can trigger severe allergic reactions.
  • Use the restroom before arrival—public restrooms are not available on the property.

Other Notes

  • There is no requirement to ride! It is perfectly fine to just spend time on the ground with horses, help groom them and play on the ground in the arena.

By following these guidelines, you help create a safe, respectful, and enjoyable environment for everyone involved in our horse activities. We appreciate your cooperation and look forward to your visit!

Animal Interaction & Property Guidelines

This property is home to a variety of animals, including cows, chickens, goats, and barn cats. You are welcome to observe them, but please do not interfere with them. These animals belong to the property owner, and we want to ensure their well-being by minimizing stress.

Upon arrival, all participants(or their legal guardian) must sign a release of liability—one for the property owner and one for us, the horse owners.

Session Details & Fees

  • The donations we receive for youth mentorship are put towards resources(books) and opportunities such as this for the regular mentorship participants. With that being said, youth mentorees, through regular youth mentorship participation, may qualify to spend time with Magi.
  • A one-time session (typically over an hour) is available for a flat rate.
  • For regular participation, we offer a monthly fee that includes hands-on time with the horses and access to educational materials on horse care and riding.

We want you to fully enjoy your time with the horses. There is no strict time limit, so we encourage you to relax, be patient, and avoid scheduling other commitments immediately before after your visit.

We look forward to sharing this incredible experience with you!

Horse activities are located in Range, WI.

It is not required for participants to ride. We can just socialize with the Magi. Horses are great therapists.
